Matt is a native New Mexican, managing shareholder, and on the Board of Directors for Whitener Law Firm. He came to Whitener Law Firm after serving as General Counsel for the City of Albuquerque’s Police Department. Mr. O’Neill also gained considerable trial experience as a Public Defender for the State of New Mexico. He studied abroad in El Salvador, Mexico, and Guatemala. He is fluent in written and oral Spanish.

Mr. O’Neill’s practice has focused on personal injury claims arising from: car accidents, wrongful death claims, trucking cases, and motorcycle crashes. He has also handled numerous dog attack cases and premises liability claims. He regularly advises associates on matters of insurance law, damages, and personal injury claims assessment. He has been practicing law since 1997 and in 2006 became a member of the bar for the US District Court for the Federal Circuit for the State of New Mexico. He is also a member of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association.
